Terminalia Chebula

Terminalia chebula (family: Combretaceae) is widely used in the traditional medicine of India and Iran to treat diseases that include dementia, constipation, and diabetes. This tree is known in Iranian traditional medicine (ITM) as halileh or halilaj and the fruit is used to develop treatments. T. chebula, which hold various chemically active compounds responsible for its medicinal properties, have been used in Unani, Ayurveda, and homeopathic medicine since antiquity to treat geriatric diseases and improve memory and brain function. It is also commonly used to treat numerous diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, paralysis, leprosy, ulcers, gout, arthritis, epilepsy, cough, fever, diarrhea, gastroenteritis, skin disorders, urinary tract infection, and wound infections.
