Orthosiphon aristatus (Blume) Miq., commonly known as Java Tea, Cat’s Whiskers, or Kumis Kucing in Malay and Indonesian, is a perennial herb in the family Lamiaceae, native to Southeast Asia and northern Australia, with wide cultivation across tropical Asia. It is one of the most important traditional medicinal herbs in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, where it has been used for centuries to support kidney health, promote urinary function, and treat conditions including urinary tract infections, kidney stones, gout, and hypertension. Java Tea is also popular as a herbal beverage tea consumed throughout Southeast Asia for its mild diuretic and detoxifying effects.
